Capability

Pushing you forward in the 2021 GMC Acadia is one of three engine choices with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

• The 3.6-liter V6 generates 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque while towing up to 4,000 pounds.

• The 2.0L 4-cylinder produces 228 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque.

• The 2.5-liter 4-cylinder delivers 193 hp and 188 lb.-ft. of torque.

To increase fuel economy, all engines depend on Stop/Start technology, which shuts the engine off at stops and restarts it again when your foot leaves the brake pedal.

The Traction Select System lets you define your drive by choosing different modes.

• Front-Wheel Drive models have Normal, Sport, Snow, and Trailer/Tow (if equipped).

• All-Wheel Drive models get FWD, AWD, Sport, Off-Road, and Trailer/Two (if equipped).

Ensuring that all your journeys are smooth is Adaptive Ride Control, which relies on the Continuous Damping Control system to adjust the shock absorbers every two milliseconds.

When you have to deal with sloped roads and trails, you’ll appreciate Hill Start Assist, which can hold the brakes momentarily to give you time to move your foot from the brake to accelerator while preventing the SUV from rolling down the incline. Hill Descent Control controls anti-lock braking to make your descents more convenient.

Technology

With the Rear Camera Mirror, you can see what’s behind you on the rearview mirror. You can also look at what’s around you through High Definition Surround Vision, which displays a virtual top-down view that is merged from all the exterior cameras. Another useful view is Hitch Guidance, which zooms into your hitch, so that you can more easily maneuver your hitch to your trailer.

You’ll keep your focus straight ahead, when the 6-inch color Head-up Display projects information like speed, audio data, and safety alerts on the windshield in front of you.

You’ll get a handle on your communications, information, and entertainment on the 8-inch GMC Infotainment color touchscreen. With connections to your smartphone, you can make and receive phone calls and access selected apps. Amazon Alexa lets you control many functions via voice, such as playing your favorite tunes, getting directions, or controlling smart home devices. The built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot connects up to seven devices to the Internet. Your music never sounded better than on the eight speakers of the Bose Premium Audio System.

Safety

You can drive more confidently with the protection of GMC Pro Safety Plus. It shields you and your loved ones from harm through the following driver assists.

• Forward Collision Alert tells you if a front-end collision is imminent and also warns you if you’re following another vehicle too closely.

• Automatic Emergency Braking works at speeds below 50 MPH and can prevent your SUV from crashing into another car by enhancing your braking or providing an emergency stop.

• Front Pedestrian Braking works similarly when you’re about to hit a person.

• Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist alerts you if you drift across the road and gently nudges the steering wheel to bring you back in line.

• The Following Distance Indicator reveals the gap time in seconds between the next vehicle and yours, so you can judge if you’re following too closely.
